Corporate Controller/Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for leading the company’s accounting functions, managing daily activities of the department and having a unique opportunity to add value to the organization as we execute our business model.
The Controller supports the achievement of financial and client goals for the year, through accounting and financial analysis, cash management, and continuous improvement and maintenance of strong financial systems. In order to achieve these goals, the Controller works closely with the CFO and the rest of the Management Team in an extremely collaborative and positive manner.
The Controller reports to the CFO and will be responsible for coordinating on all finance and accounting activities and will work closely with other team members across aspects of accounting, finance, billing, HR and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting activity, supervising accounts payable and accounts receivable accountants.
- Responsible for monthly close activities including preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, expense analysis, accrual process, fluctuation analysis; responsible for overseeing other aspects of monthly close process performed by accounting staff.
- Assist in investigating and resolving discrepancies reported and/or discovered in the general ledger and other reports.
- Coordinate with CFO to prepare monthly management reports and forecasting models.
- Maintain all policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain Chart of Accounts; work interdepartmentally to ensure proper expense coding to the GL of all expenses.
- Oversee preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and filings.
- Supervise/prepare client documents and worksheets for auditors.
- Manage and process corporate payroll and expense reimbursements.
- Maintain business licensure and various certifications.
Required Skills/Experience:
- BS/BA in Accounting, with 6-10 years of accounting and finance experience, CPA a plus.
- Sound judgment and a track record of ability to maintain strict confidentiality, proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Natural alignment with values and overall mission, enjoys an energetic work environment; proactive thinker who is naturally inclined to go the extra mile; skilled communicator who deftly manages all levels and roles in the organization.
- Quick learner, organized and meticulous/exceptional attention to detail; analytical thinker with the ability to create/interpret reports using Excel and related database tools.
- Well-versed in Solomon software.
