Education

What if you could get inside the heads of students in the world’s education superpowers? What would you learn by following the school lives of American teenagers in Finland, South Korea and Poland? How would that knowledge change education in the U.S.? How can we better understand the gap between public policy and human behavior?

That’s what author and Time Magazine investigative journalist Amanda Ripley will share in her general session keynote taking place Wednesday, March 18 at the 22nd Annual California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) Conference in Sacramento. Through Ripley’s experiences and findings you will learn how some countries are transforming education and creating smarter students without spending more money or creating more tests.

On Thursday, March 19, influential journalist and author Juan Williams will moderate the provocative closing program covering How charter schools can address the vision of Brown v. Board of Education.

Not one to shy away from controversy or strong opinions, Williams has created a furor several times in the course of his career, including his public firing from NPR and the release of his book that examined black leadership in the U.S. We’re betting that Williams will have a lot to say about how charters can, and should, address the vision of Brown v. Board of Education, particularly during the 50th anniversary of the landmark case. In fact, we’re counting on it.

These are two of the many sessions you’ll be able to attend when you register for the CCSA conference, March 16-19.
