SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter.

Last week, we asked: Have you ever been to an “unconference”?

  • I don’t even know what that means, 81%
  • No, but the idea intrigues me, 12%
  • Yes, 5%
  • No, and I’m not interested, 2%

An unconference is “a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered on a theme or purpose.” HRevolution, an unconference centered around HR and social media issues, was held this last weekend in Chicago. The amount of attendee participation is a bit overwhelming at first but we saw many folks jump right in with new ideas and bringing their knowledge to the table.
