Esri and health care data analytics company Intellimed International announced a partnership last month in which Esri will provide Intellimed with data for hospital planning and forecasting. Intellimed chose the geographic information systems provider after comparing 2010 census data with estimates from Esri and four other data vendors and determining that Esri’s data had the most accuracy and lowest precision error total for population and household estimates.
“After completing our research to find the highest quality, most current, and most complete demographics data, we found that Esri demographics data was far superior to all other sources,” Intellimed Chief Operating Officer H. Gene Koch said. “We also discovered that Esri had other products that would benefit Intellimed in its delivery of high-quality information to the health care market.”
Esri’s embedded demographics will provide Intellimed’s IntelliClient software with high quality, statistically validated data adjusted by severity of illness, which will be used by hospitals and health care systems in marketing and planning decisions.
“Using Esri’s rich Tapestry data and demographics, the world around hospitals will open up, as managers visualize the pressing needs and concerns of the patient community,” Esri’s health and human services industry Manager Christina Bivona-Tellez said. “Suddenly, they’ll know where to target their efforts to reach those in need.”
In its use of Esri products, Intellimed joins the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and 127 national health ministries.
