SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Restaurant SmartBrief — tracks feedback from restaurant owners and managers about current trends and issues.

Last week’s poll question: Is your restaurant offering Super Bowl promotions?

Yes — 43.1%
No — 54.31%
I’m not sure 2.59%

The majority of respondents said their restaurants weren’t offering Super Bowl promotions this year. While some restaurants, such as Portofino Coal Fired Pizza in Homestead, Fla., were offering happy-hour prices all Super Bowl weekend, others closed their doors to let their employees enjoy the big game. Ron Zimmerman of The Herbfarm near Seattle says this is the second year the 35 employees enjoyed the day off from the destination restaurant that prides itself on dining “events,” which can last four and a half hours.
