No need for special treatment

SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter.

Last week, we asked: Do you treat Generation Y employees differently than other employees?

  • No, 82%
  • Yes, 13%
  • We don’t have any Gen Y workers, 5%

Well if there is a right answer to this question, most of you got it. Treating employees fairly and taking account of their needs is one thing but doing it based on their date of birth is just lazy. Most Gen Y’ers want to be treated with respect, fairness and want opportunities to grow just like the rest of your workforce.
