SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter and feature analysis from Lance Haun, vice president of outreach for MeritBuilder, the main guy over at YourHRGuy.com and a member of the SmartBrief on Workforce Advisory Board. on this blog.
Last week’s poll question: Many organizations have either frozen or reduced pay in the past year. When is your organization planning on reversing pay cuts or unfreezing pay?
- We never froze or reduced pay, 34%
- I don’t know, 33%
- Six months or more, 23%
- Less than six months, 6%
- We’ve already reversed cuts/freeze, 4%
“This is sort of a good news, bad news deal. The good news is nearly 40% of companies either never reduced or froze salaries or have they have reversed them already. The bad news is that almost a third don’t know when they’ll reinstitute pay increases and a majority of the rest more than six months out. This seems to indicate that there is still a bit of hesitancy to commit to payroll increases in the near future.” — Lance Haun
