Staying on the sidelines

SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter and feature analysis from SmartBrief on Workforce Senior Editor Mary Ellen Slayter on this blog.

Last week’s poll question: Is your organization using social media to aid recruiting?

  • No, and we’re not interested, 43%
  • No, but we’re considering it, 29%
  • Yes, and we’re pleased with the results, 17%
  • Yes, but we’re not seeing the benefit, 11%

Employers’ feelings about using social media for recruiting are mixed. Nearly half of you report that you’re simply not even interested in trying it, which I find surprising. Used effectively, social media tools can be an effective way to source candidates and build your brand as an attractive employer. HR pro Susan Strayer keeps a list of companies recruiting via Twitter, which she updates weekly. Are you (or your competitors) on it?
