Why hasn’t social media turned into the shopping mecca experts have been predicting? Sure, you might look up reviews online, browse new products and even make purchases online– but according to a new study, relatively few people make their purchasing decisions a part of their social networking conversations. A survey of 45,000 myYearbookusers found just 17% said they’d posted about a purchasing decisions. Granted myYearbook is hardly Facebook– but if those numbers are even close to typical, that’s a pretty discouraging picture for aspiring word-of-mouth social maestros.
