It’s hard to think about air travel as a big business when you’re sitting in between two strangers on a plane in coach, but more than 1.4 billion passengers around the world departed, landed or connected at airports last year. Of those airports, the five busiest alone saw more than 382 million passengers, according to a story map from Esri.

While airports span across the globe, Esri’s map reveals that the world’s busiest ones are clustered in the U.S. and Europe. Out of the 25 busiest airports in the world, 10 are in the U.S. and five are in Europe.

U.S. airports appear four times just in the top 10, with Georgia’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport coming in at number one, O’Hare International Airport in Chicago coming in at number five, California’s Los Angeles International Airport coming in at six and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas ranked eighth. And while the U.S. airports that made Esri’s list are spread across the country, most are clustered on the East and West coasts.

European airports appear twice in the top 10 — London Heathrow Airport in the U.K. is ranked third and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France is ranked seventh. Germany’s Frankfurt Airport isn’t far behind, coming in the 11th spot.

The Beijing Capital International Airport in China, Tokyo International Airport in Japan, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia and Dubai International Airport in U.A.E. round out the map’s top 10.
