Nearly half of Restaurant SmartBrief readers said they will make it their New Year’s resolution to put health and nutrition top of mind.
On Monday, California restaurants got a taste of what federal legislation for chains with more than 20 locations will mean, as they are required to post calorie counts on menus and provide other nutrition information upon demand. (The California law, which went into effect Monday, is pre-empted by the federal law, which takes effect in March.)
Also, the USDA recently announced that this time next year, it will be law for 40 major cuts of meat to have nutrition labels.
