Kroger’s new logo and universal slogan topped the most read stories list among SmartBrief’s food and beverage readers this week. The slogan “Fresh for Everyone” will be used across its entire store portfolio, including Kroger, Ralphs, Fry’s, Harris Teeter, Fred Meyer and several other banners. In other popular food retail news, Target’s chief marketing officer discussed the success of the company’s new Target Circle loyalty program, which is the result of learning from missteps with an earlier rewards program.

On the restaurant side, readers were drawn to news about P.F. Chang’s new nightclub concept, which will be tested in Miami, as well as news that private equity firm Brentwood Associates acquired fast-casual chain Chicken Salad Chick from Eagle Merchant Partners.

SmartBrief’s CPG readers were especially interested in a story about Johnson & Johnson’s new startup mindset regarding e-commerce, as well as a commentary about why Coca-Cola’s entry into milk was the right move and this year’s CPG Halloween products.
