Fallout from the coronavirus pandemic dominated food and beverage news this week, with a story about how Georgia-Pacific is working to meet demand for toilet paper receiving the most clicks. The company is using a managed distribution process and has ramped up production by 120% as demand for the staple has doubled.

Other most-clicked CPG stories ranged from Clorox addressing price gouging on Amazon to the possible weakening of the cocoa supply chain due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the restaurant side, news of state and city orders for eateries to close for dine-in business garnered many clicks. New York City, Los Angeles, and states including Illinois, Washington, Ohio and Massachusetts have put these restrictions in place. Also in restaurant news, readers were drawn to Chick-fil-A’s entry into retail via a line of bottled sauces.

Grocery retail readers were interested in the news that Publix has introduced a club membership program that focuses on digital features, as well as news of shorter hours at grocery stores to deal with new coronavirus buying patterns. Costco’s $1 billion acquisition of a logistics company also made waves.
