Foodservice Innovation Awards judges discuss meeting today's challenges

After announcing the winners of the Innovation Awards for Foodservice, SmartBrief and The National Restaurant Association gathered the panel of judges for a discussion about the importance of this awards program, additional insights about some of the winners and their experience evaluating the nominees in each category.

“They say that necessity is the mother of invention and this has certainly been a year of necessity, no doubt,” awards judge Larry Lynch, senior vice president of certification and operations at The National Restaurant Association, said in kicking off the conversation.

From the acceleration of trends that were already occurring to what consumers are looking for in the “new normal,” hear what the judges, who come from companies like Buffalo Wild Wings, The Wendy’s Company, Chipotle and more, had to say about the state of innovation in the foodservice industry today.
